In This Function You Will

  • Provide leadership to develop, support and implement logistics programs to meet or exceed business objectives across Africa
  • Implement programs and system improvements to improve efficiency, drive down overall logistics costs and improve customer service.
  • Develop and implement long term plans to optimize warehousing and logistic solutions by coordinating efforts within the Zest Logistics supply chain organization and other key functional stakeholders such as service, operations / supply chain, customer service and finance.
  • Collaborate with Corporate and Regional Logistics teams to develop and deploy logistics projects and initiatives.
  • Manage carrier performance
  • Oversee freight payment and freight claims processes
  • Govern logistics regulatory and hazardous materials requirements
  • Work with Supply Chain Managers to reduce premium freight as a % of sales
  • All duties assigned by management and deemed pertinent to the continued success of Company and employee objectives and/or goals with respect to Logistics.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics
  • Must be able to work in Kenya and/or Rwanda without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • Regulations on domestic and international shipments
  • Logistics network design
  • Lean principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications

Position Criteria

  • Knowledge of domestic transportation lanes, including customs, and warehousing
  • Management of 3rd party providers, including experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, brokers and customs (import/export)
  • Knowledge of transportation/logistics/supply chain concepts and strategies, including IT selection and implementation
  • Proven track record of achieving results
  • Superior communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects and teams
  • Ability to drive results while working in a matrix environment and through developing and empowering individuals and teams
  • Managerial courage with good conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
